Mendham baseball under new direction in 2017

First-year coach Brian Weingart aims high for Minutemen

MENDHAM TWP. – The Mendham High School baseball team will be under new leadership in the 2017 season.

First-year head coach Brian Weingart will take the reigns this season as head coach for the Minutemen. Weingart was a four-year assistant under head coach Dennis McCaffery at Cranford prior to taking over at Mendham. He also had stints at Elizabeth under Matt Belford and at Roselle Park under Nick Agoglia.

Weingart has a simple goal for this season with Mendham.

“Our goal every year for this program really moving forward is to win five championships a year,” he said. “Conference, county, a section, a North final and a state championship. It’s lofty goals, but those are the ones that we’re going to set every year. Those are the ones we’re going to go after and structure our program with those high expectations.”
